review 1: This tender tale set in 1955 was just a smidge off the mark initially for me--I had some difficulty with the character development. But just wait for it.. wait for it... BAM! Ms Kring sets the hook and we're off for another satisfying story! The main character is "Teaspoon" who is as annoying as she is endearing. Honestly, bouncing between her incessant jibberjabber and insightful observations was at times a wild ride! This is a funny, tender & captivating story and deserving of your time & attention.
review 2: This was a sweet book, set in the 1950s, narrated by Teaspoon, a 10-year old girl. Her mom left her to be raised by her boyfriend and they live in the poorer part of the town. Teaspoon joins a group called Sunshine Sisters, where she has a mentor from th... moree upper-class section. Teaspoon is a child so her narration is very naive, misinterpreting many situations. Teaspoon wants to be a singer and gets very involved in helping arrange a benefit concert, which brings along much drama. The story was all right, with interesting characters. Teaspoon's constant chattering did get on my nerves, though. less
