review 1: I'm usually quite a fan of Scott Mariani but this book was rather disappointing. First of all, it took a while to really get rolling. The premise sounded good and I had high hopes for a real Indiana Jones type adventure. Imagine my surprise when I started running across not just phrases but scenes that were lifted right from Indiana Jones movies. Aw, come on. Then there were Ben's conflicting emotions. I know he carries a lot of baggage but it got old quickly. There were few surprises especially during the treasure hunt itself which only added to the disappointment. I know the author can do better so I will eventually give him another go.
review 2: This book was pretty good. It could have been better, though. To me, it felt as if my suspension of disbel... moreief was pushed a little bit too far in many instances. While I still enjoyed reading it, I feel that it could have been better in that regard. As this was my first exposure to Ben Hope and to Scott Mariani, I won't hold it against him or the character. I'll be sure to check out his other works to get a better understanding of his works and hope their better than this. less
