review 1: This one only gets two stars because the utter lack of emotions shown by the main character at times. I really like the series, it's like a Michael Bay movie, fast paced and enjoyable and nothing too deep but the utter one dimensional nature of the characters through the series is starting to get to me, I'll probably finish the books out but I don't foresee Simon Green becoming one of my authors to follow.
review 2: The Drood family has stood between Humanity and the monsters since the beginning of time when an alien came to Earth and gave them torcs. However, it become clear to Edwin Drood (Eddie) that the alien behind these torcs was evil and he brought down the family and took it over. Eddie aligned himself and the Drood family with beneficial alien he call... mores Ethel who gave the Droods new torcs and a new lease of protecting Humanity. Eddie has returned to being a field agent and his grandmother, the Matriarch, continues to run the family. Eddie has fallen in love with Molly Metcalf, the Wild Witch of the Woods and is beginning to think about retiring from field service. Then the Matriarch is murdered and Eddie has to rescue the family and Humanity once again. He has to take on the Immortals, Doctor Delirium, Tiger Tim Drood (traitor to the family) and assorted demons and aliens to retrieve the Apocalypse Door before the Immortals can gain access to Paradise or loose all the demons in Hell unto Earth. Just another day for Eddie Drood. Tons of fun and charming witticisms; it's always entertaining to read a volume in the Secret Histories saga. less
