review 1: If the protagonist (Stella) were a criminal, this would qualify as a crime-caper novel. As it is, it's a really funny mystery. Stella is a good friend to know, and she is determined to demonstrate that her old friend is not a killer. And the sheriff, nicknamed Goat, does for Stella what Ranger and Joe Morelli tend to do for Stephanie Plum. You get my drift. The very best I have read so far in this series is the first, but this one is a winner as well, and you should beat a path to a bookstore--or of course, your trusty internet--and get a copy. It's a great beach read, or an overall mood lightener.
review 2: This is starting to become one of my favorite series. A Bad Day for Pretty picks up where the first book left off. Stella Hardesty has finally managed to he
... moreal from all her injuries and has got Goat right where she wants him. But some things are just too good to be true when someone from Goat's past comes in and starts to ruffle some feathers. I would have given this book 5 stars but it was missing two things for me: 1. I want some Stella & Goat action!!! & 2. I would like to read about Stella actually reforming an abuser.I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Hopefully my wish will come true and Stella and Goat will finally get together! less
