Princess Posey
review 1: Posey loves to play magic games, read and spend time with her best friends Ava and Nikki. When a new girl moves to town, Posey feels very jealous. She tries to exclude Grace. Soon, she learns how much it hurts to be excluded. With the help of her teacher, she bonds with Grace and soon the four girls are best friends. This book would be appropriate for independent readers between six and seven years old. The illustrations and widely spaced text will help young readers transition from picture books to chapter books. Posey also experiences very real emotions with which young readers will identify. The book could be used to help children understand theme and develop narrative skills.
review 2: This book has been popular with many of my Literacy Center students. Alth
... moreough Posey is in first grade, her friendship dilemma—a new girl moves in and threatens the balance of Posey’s “peas in a pod” threesome—is applicable to girls of all ages. Some of my struggling readers who are in 4th and 5th grade are reading—and enjoying—this story. The format is that of a regular junior-fiction chapter book. The reading level is early second grade which makes it accessible, but not appearing too “babyish,” for the less-proficient older reader. less

I liked it because its about not judging someone before you know the real person.

Loved that it captured the real girl dynamics of a new friend joining a trio.
