review 1: I was very disappointed in this book. Here was a character we have been reading about throughout the whole series. He was cloaked in mystery and danger. This could have been a really good story. I feel like SL just got tired of the series and just recycled another one of the books in the series just to get it over with. After spending so much time reading these books and waiting for the identity of Dalziel to be revealed, this was a huge letdown.
review 2: It started going really slow. Too slow. I'm almost gave up on this book before I even started it. IT doesn't help, I'm sure that I didn't read any other part of the series, but when the other characters came in, they were good enough and it didn't really push me to get the first novel and start form the beg
... moreinning. The characters were good enough. I liked the practicality, and logic, as well as the romance and midnight trysts. It was generally a little too dull, I think. Hardly any excitement at all until the very freaking end!I would say hurrying the beginning, and at least escalating the interaction between the two characters more quickly would make this book a good deal more interesting. But again, it was still to where I don't mind/need to read the rest of the series, and I likely won't. less

Heavens, not many people can write steam like Stephanie Laurens. And a good story to boot.

Apparently "Dalziel" is supposed to be pronounced "dee-EL." This is throwing me off.
