review 1: THIS SUMMARY/REVIEW WAS COPIED FROM OTHER SOURCES AND IS USED ONLY AS A REMINDER OF WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT FOR MY PERSONAL INTEREST. ANY PERSONAL NOTATIONS ARE FOR MY RECOLLECTION ONLYNot really sure how I feel about this one. I give it a 3 cuz I really liked Charlie and Clay and yes their momsopposites really do attract! physically and emotionally they may be different and it is mostly due to their backgrounds yet they complement each other pretty well. i liked how the "deal" was resolved in the middle of the story which led to the natural progression of their relationship. charlie had a lot of insecurities, mostly due to her being raped when she was in college and i'm glad she met clay, who admired her and loved her for who she was. i know charlie is very strong, but s... moreometimes being strong does not mean you can't be feminine too. like what dominique said, it wont hurt to try to look nice once in a while, wear a dress, fix the hair, wear a little makeup. i also like clay's character - something different from the usual "im so hot all women love me and i love them" type of hero. i find it funny that he was an underwear model and how the town teased him about it but by the end of the story, he was able to get the support of the entire town. i really hope that his haycation will be successful! and am i the only one who thinks that maybe his new farm manager will also get his own story?i also loved the side story about dominique and her strained relationship with charlie. i get why charlie is so reluctant to get to know her mom, though sometimes i feel that she was being so unreasonable. and im happy that it was dominique who reached out first, well, one because she was at fault and two, because she's the mother and sometimes it's really the adult who should try to reach out to her daughter. all through out the book there seemed to be a lot of mother - daughter dynamices. i'm looking forward to may and evie's reconciliation in the next book. and also patience and justice's story
review 2: This is the end of the third cycle of books set in Fool's Gold. This book focuses on Charlie and Clay. Clay is the youngest Stryker brother. He is a former model who has moved back to Fool's Gold to be closer to family and start a new business venture. Charlie is a firefighter and has just watched her two friends Heidi and Annabelle fall in love. She has decided that she is going to overcome her issues with men and intimacy so that she can move on with her life. Charlie wants to be a mother and has decided she needs to work on her own healing first. Clay agrees to help her, with the understanding that everything is casual between them.I can't say enough about the Fool's Gold series by Ms. Mallory! I usually do not like contemporary romance novels and yet I can't stop reading this series. I want to know more about the characters and want to learn more about the town. I love the little peeks at the prior couples and updates on their lives that she weaves into the story. I can't wait to pick up the next book! less

Widower Clay Stryker was an, ahem, ass model, but he's hit 30s and is looking at his retirement options. He decides to build a hay cation spot on the family farm. He's been in love - at first sight - and can't see falling in love again anytime soon.Charlie Dixon is a firefighter, who grew into a swan. Only thing is she doesn't know it — brainwashed by a her ballerina mom and raped as a college kid, she doesn't get the whole guy-gal thing or flirty, but she wants kids.So she turns to new found friend to teach her about sex, starting with flirting, kissing, and working up to sex.Slow romance moves from attraction to HEA, you get it.Some weird red herrings thrown in — poisoned seed? — and I thought Charlie's dealing with sex after a rape seemed a little unrealistic, but it wasn't a horrible read.

After this one all three Stryker boys are off the market. I wonder who will come into town next?
