review 1: I picked this novel up at the school library, intrigued because the cover mentioned that it was based on a line in Wally Lamb's The Hour I first believed. Wally Lamb's book was amazing--tough to read, but amazing. This one fits into that category, but it is intended as a YA novel. And it's one with a lot of heart. I've not read any of Susin Nelson's other work, but I will be much more likely to pick up some of it now that I've read this one. Tough subjects handled expertly.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. It was filled with relatable characters in a heartbreaking situation. Although the situation is horrible, the book was not totally depressing. It had moments of lightness and humor, which was a nice balance with the more serious parts. I felt like the wa... morey that Henry felt and acted was totally believable. It was good to get the story of what happens to the family after a murder/suicide, rather than just the story of the person who committed the murder/suicide. Great read! less
