review 1: This book gives us a fresh perspective on the parable of the prodigal son. We often emphasized on the relationship between the wayward son and the generous father, while neglecting the role and intent of the elder brother. But not this book. This book explains the cultural context of the parable, the characteristics and intent of every role, and the purpose and applications of the parable for modern readers. It unpacks this seemingly simple parable and draws us to the lavish love and grace of our prodigal God ---- Jesus Christ.
review 2: Many questions are answered in this little book. The controversies over law vs. grace are all resolved if you understand the heart of the gospel. Timothy Keller doesn't eloquently present his own opinion to try to convince yo... moreu of a new idea; instead he simply presents the gospel, but it is deeper than I have ever realized. If you thought you fully understood the gospel, maybe you better go back and ask God to reveal the depths to you. So... my suggestion? Read this book. less
