review 1: I didn't feel like this was as good as the first one - it felt like there were no real stakes (until three-quarters in, at least) and it felt a little undirected, but it was still an enjoyable read. I'm sure I'll be picking up the third book at some point soon. On the audiobook front, Charlie David is a good narrator (despite some sketchy pronunciations on a few occasions), but I still prefer the narrator from the first book. His voices for the characters just fit better.
review 2: This book has made my top summer reads - i laughed out loud so many times my teenage daughter told me i couldn't read it in public for fear of embarrassing her and I cried. Not many books can make me do both. I love Bear's character and the crazy way he thinks and and goes off int... moreo possible what if tangents. The Kids genius balances Bear. And well Otter is their strength and stability. It had been awhile before i bought book 2 so I reread book 1 (enjoying it the second time also) then went directly into books 2 & 3. Books 2 & 3 were excellent. I highly recommend the series. less
