review 1: Engaging, sweet and simple in its winsome charms, “Cat Dreams” fills its pages with convincingly painted felines and soft pastels, all in the dream of a single calico cat. The large letters and uncomplicated prose leap and cavort on the pages, following the curves of the illustrations. Nothing is difficult to grasp here: we have a typical hedonistic kitty lapping up cream and dreaming of micefall (as opposed to rainfall) in a dog-free world. There is a warm surprise at the end as we get the only thing missing from Pussykin’s nocturnal fantasy, making this a fine book for animal-loving children.
review 2: Nicely designed with easy words, rhyming, in large clear lettering--makes this a good pick for new readers. It's fun to imagine what cats dream about--
... morelike a giant catnip tree, the sky raining mice, and all the dogs running away... But I think we all know that if a cat were to rest in a bluejay nest, it would have a gorier ending than this story shows. The sweet pictures will delight young cat lovers. less
