review 1: I was looking for a stand-alone that I could dig into and The Near Witch did not disappoint. I loved the fantasy feel of the story and that it kept me wanting to read. Even though the relationship between the main character and her mother wasn't explored too deep, it was a positive relationship and left me with a good feeling. There was some kissing, including some light neck and shoulder kisses. I give the story 3.5 stars, but I so appreciate an author writing a stand-alone, so I am giving The Near Witch 4 stars. Young adult and up.
review 2: I did not really enjoy this book. It did not impress me or excite me or surprise me. The characters were bland and the plot was predictable. The pace was so very slow it felt like it took forever to get to anything si... moregnificant plot wise!One thing that annoyed me was the relationship between Cole and Lexi. Did they have to fall in love all of a sudden out of the blue with no warning? Friendship would have worked better for this book I think. Also they were both such children! To have them running around thinking they were the only ones who knew anything about anything frustrated me. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend it. less
