review 1: If it's possible, I liked this book even more than the first. Same amazing plot and phenomenal world, but this time we get even more character. All of Wesley's dialogue gave me mad Giggly Girl Syndrome. He is my number one book crush right now. What I love more than anything, though, is the way Wesley supports Mackenzie and doesn't overshadow her. I think that their kind of relationship is seriously needed in YA books. He doesn't control her "for her protection" and isn't in any way "above" her. They are true partners and that's what I like so much about their pairing. That alone deserves five stars, not to mention all the other amazingness that occurred within these few hundred pages. I need more of this. GIVE ME MORE.
review 2: A great followup and I'm anxious
... more for the rest of the series. I do have a few questions about why Schwab went this direction with the sequel here, as I would have liked the baddie to have been saved for an appearance later. The final act goes really fast and there are a lot of unanswered questions, but I loved Mac (think Twilight but the female is strong and in control) and loved the fear. Hopefully less action, more fear in the future. less
