review 1: I enjoyed this blend of nostalgia and forward looking optimism. Just went I thought the bittersweet of it be too much the story changed directions. It's not exactly about death but I would read this with children who have lost someone. The subtle changes in the illustrations work so well with the character development. I sort of hate that they made this into a short film. Its perfect just the way it is, however you see it in your head as you read. If you don't see the story then you should try reading it again or share it with someone. I don't think everything needs to be animated.
review 2: I first came across this story in my reading class where we watched the digital version of the story and got to see the story really come alive. I remember sitting in... more class feeling so moved and I almost let a few tears out, but I held them back because it wasn't the place. My interpretation of this story comes down to how books can really bring a person to life. It can bring out all sorts of emotions and thoughts a person my not have visited before causing one to feel enlightened. IT seemed to really show too when a person would come across a book and they went from shades of black and white to shades of lively colors. I HIGHLY recommend reading and/or watching this book/video to anyone and everyone of all ages. I would prefer the video or even th app that has this story so kids can interact with it and also develop their own interpretations of what is happening in the story. Words cannot do this story justice...it is a MUST read. less
