review 1: Once again an interesting story and a good insight into how another country deals with the mentally, emotionally or physically handicapped population. The intrigue and the eerie quality of the story were well done and kept the pages turning along altho the fact that I was distracted by the fact that I am currently traveling made me take longer than usual to finish the book. I do enjoy Thora and her interaction with Bella and wish there had been more of that in the book. Maybe next one....

... moreandic setting has gained some depth. The same can be said about the characters: they've become less cliche, more rounded, and much more likeable. I was totally bought by how skillfully the author handled sensitive issues: the recent crisis and its many implications, corruption, the way disabled people are treated in society. It all adds up to a gripping, powerful narrative with hints of something supernatural - or very vague references to Macbeth, if you prefer. less
