review 2: You might say that Alice Munro has been on my bucket list far too long. Just reading DEAR HEART proved that. I was captivated. She has such insight into the human psyche and human fallibility. These are stories of ordinary people, living, for the most part, in small or rural Canadian towns and yet with the same weaknesses and fears of any cross section of humanity anywhere else on earth. There is a clarity in her writing that is beautiful. There is an understanding of human emotions and insecurities that is faultless. I believe the Nobel Prize was a tribute to the sum total of her life's work rather than to one individual body of work.I normally do not read short stories, preferring novels instead, and that is the reason it's taken me so long to read her work. My mistake but I will read more Alice Munro for sure! less

I found I enjoyed this book much more after discussing it in book club than I did while reading it
