review 1: I am enjoying Talker and Brian's story, although as far as I'm concerned the books should be treated as one rather than three separate books. And if you're considering listening to the audio versions, do yourself a favor and don't. The quality of book one is not horrible, but it's not very good, and this one is pretty much impossible to follow just listening. I ended up having to switch to reading to figure out what was going on. Part of that is the style of the book, I think it would be difficult for most narrators to pull this one off because of the constant short flashbacks, but there were also many mispronunciations, errors in timing and emphasis, and even words and phrases that are changed or left out entirely. The narration definitely detracted from, if not ruin... moreed an otherwise very good story.
review 2: Review of the series...I have read this series multiple times now & I am still in love with the books. Talker is a beautiful story about a flawed, broken, scarred (yet beautiful) man overcoming pain & adversity to find love. Talker is one of the fragile souls that need to be sheltered from the harsh realities of life. His eternal optimism makes him vulnerable to exploitation & abuse. Brian (aka Prince Charming) becomes Talker's buffer & the three books are the turbulent, beautiful story of how they meet, fall in love & become right with the world. There is nothing light & fluffy about these books but the story, although difficult to read, is wonderful & uplifting. less

The second book deals mostly with the effects Tate's rape had on him, Brian and their relationship. It was herartbreaking to see him recall the night and coming apart at seems when Brian was beaten but it was beautiful to see how strong their relationship was and to see them build a family. It was also interesting to be in Tate's head for change and get a bit of a perspective on what happened in teh first book from his side.
