review 1: Lauren and Rob had walked different paths in and out of each other’s lives Rob was the brother to her best friend but Lauren did not have brotherly feelings toward him. Lauren has always loved Rob now even more than before since she has returned home.Rob may have had other women in his life but Lauren soon discovers they were never the right fit and she learns that Rob shares her feelings just as strongly. Growing up as she had with her dad never in her life made her view things a little more cynical, but Rob it turns out did not have an easy go of it either. Rob and Lauren both bring something to the relationship in talent, affection, moral support, and an emotional balm to heal each other’s heart. When Lauren takes the furniture building talent Rob has into a very ... morelucrative business that may make him an internet star decisions about what life has in front of them turn into fights instead of lifetime commitments. Lauren has surrounded herself with so much in terms of life, friendships, and career goals. Yet when she has to make a decision of them or her what is she going to do.
review 2: Ann Aguirre is perhaps my new favorite author. I fell in love with her writing style and storytelling in I Want It That Way, the first story of the 2B Triology. There are times when an author wows you with a book, and falls flat the next time around. This is NOT one of those times! I loved this book just as much (if not more) thanIWITW.As Long As You Love Me tells the story of Lauren and her adjustment back to her hometown of Sharon after dropping out of college. Lauren always had a major crush in her best friend's brother, Rob. The older, dreamy, high school football star who rescued her on more than one occasion, Rob was also the star of MANY of Lauren's fantasies. Moving back home, Lauren finds herself right back where she was in high school, pining away for the man she thinks she'll never have a chance with.Rob is so different than the typical book boyfriends I am used to falling in love with. He is strong and sweet and loyal, but he is not overconfident or cocky. He has no problem recognizing when he has a good thing, and working to keep it. He struggles to find the confidence he needs to fulfill his dreams until he meets Lauren. Her unwavering support has him starting to picture a different future for himself. This a slow burn kind of book. Lauren and Rob's relationship has been a long time coming, and the history between them helps to build the perfect amount of history and tension. Their history creates an interesting dynamic. Rob and Lauren both think they are not good enough for each other, and they each think the the other person is beyond their reach. ALAYLM is a true coming of age story, with characters who work hard to find their rhythm in life and love. As with any good book there is conflict, but unlike most books I read, the conflict here was one of my favorite parts. I loved it because it was so different than what is typical or expected, and shows the true nature of Lauren and Rob.Perhaps my favorite part of Ann Aguirre's books are her dialogue. I cannot put my finger on what is so different about it, but I can't get enough! It is witty, sarcastic, sweet, sexy, genuine, and true to life. It feels so realistic that I get lost in the story, and can easily imagine myself standing in the next room or sitting at the next table, privy to these private conversations. The characters are everyday people. They are flawed in ways that are so relatable to readers that it doesn't take much to be able to insert yourself right in to the story. You're reading along and all of a sudden... "YES! That's exactly how I feel!" I started this book at 9pm, and didn't move until I finished at 3am. This book had me completely captivated as I swooned all over the couch. The only break I took was to make cookie dough to get me through. I'm already on the edge of my seat waiting for the last book, The Shape Of My Heart. There isn't a doubt in my mind that book is going to be fantastic! less
