review 1: I picked up a used copy of Knit, Purl, Die while on vacation, being in the mood for a light, cosy, beach read. This more than fit the bill nicely until the last couple of chapters. All of a sudden - wham! - the author switched to resolution mode. The characters were simply discussing how it all went down. It seemed as if the author realized she had run out of time and had to turn in her final manuscript in a jiffy. The way this story ended was so vastly different from all that had come before. All I could say was 'WTH?'This book is the second in the Black Sheep Knitting Mystery series. I have not read the first book, but would like to, and then compare the two. I hope the ending of the first book is better than this one.If it was not for the majority of this book having be... moreen written in a terrific, witty and warm style, the great characterizations, and the lovely setting, I would have rated it with one star only. If a solid ending is important to you, don't bother reading this book.
review 2: I want to learn how to knit! I felt like this when I read the first book in this series, WHILE MY PRETTY ONE KNITS, and I felt like this again while reading this one. And I liked reading this fun cozy. I did sort of figure out whodunit a wee bit early, but I continued reading it because I wanted to be sure and I really love the characters in the book, The Black Sheep Knitters. The story moves along and is told through different characters' POV. I like this, I became more invested in each character's life. I see how the knitting group is their respite from life. I would love to find a group of friends like this....and learn to knit....Can't wait to read the next in the series. less
