review 1: Serious and Sexy One of the things that has become increasingly apparent in reading m/m romances set in Australia is how homophobic much of the country appears to be. This plays a key role in most of these books because one of the two men involved (Macklin), though 10 years older than the American transplant Caine, is still hesitant to come out, and that is the crux of the romance and tension and plot.Author Tachna handles everything beautifully--the language is crisp in all the idioms, the writing is lovely, the plot never outrageous. I am on the second book in the series and this whole scenario repeats itself and I am comforted, and thrilled. BTW, the sex is hot, too!
review 2: 4.5 stars Loved the scenery. Loved the characters. But most of all I loved that ... morethis story felt REAL. The emotion between the men, their fears and hesitations, even their moments of boldness. I really, really like it. Caines' stutter was adorable and I just wanted to cuddle him. OTOH, and one of the things that made the story GREAT for me, Macklin did not transformed magically into an open lover in bed. These processes take time and THAT was a refreshing (and awesome!!!) point made by the author. less
