review 1: I really enjoyed it! Sara is smart, independent, and has followed her father's footsteps to become a successful lawyer. Sara returns to see her dad on his birthday after years without much contact. They have a difficult relationship and Sara has never known why her dad doesn't seem to care about her. When her visit takes an unexpected turn, Aiden arrives. Aiden is a smoke jumper in a family of firefighters. He is reeling after the death of his best friend, Kyle, and he doesn't know how Kyle died. He has a difficult relationship with his father and oldest brother, who are also firefighters. Sara's reappearance after so long jolts Aiden. He's been attracted to her, but always felt that she deserved better than him. Aiden isn't interested in a committed relationship... more, but he finds that Sara is the one person he can talk to about Kyle and the fire. Both make some surprising discoveries along the way as they reconnect. Sara and Aiden are drawn to each other and their connection is strengthened as they get to know and support each other during this time in their lives. There was a good story, good pacing, and great characters. I would recommend this book and I'll be reading the other books in this series. *I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
review 2: This was a nice romance. Sara, who has loved Aiden since they were teenagers. Aiden who liked Sara, but knew she was too good for him. Now they are adults and have both come home. They discover each other again and Sara finds her feelings have never stopped after a decade and Aiden realizes he can't let her go this time. Sara is a workaholic lawyer who has come home to see her father for his birthday. They have never had a good relationship, but she has decided to see him anyway. They have a heated argument and then a fire In his house almost ends his life until Aidan rescues him. Now she has to contend with a man she never thought she would see again on top of a man who could care less if she existed. Secrets are discovered and Sara's life and priorities change in an instant.Aiden has come home to clear his head after the tragedy of losing his best friend. Everyone is blaming him and he can't get past the uneasy feeling that something about his death was not right. He notices a fire in his old neighbors house and jumps to the rescue. He comes face to face with a woman he never expected to see again. He saves her father and in the process he begins to save himself without even realizing it. This story had a lot of tender moments, good romance and mystery. It fell short for me though. There was so much build up and then it was over...an epilogue would have been nice. less
