review 1: I can't say much about this one without giving away major plot points. It reminds me a bit of a Dean Koontz novel. Overall, a page-turner of a plot. I held back one star because there are a few plot holes that didn't seem to be cleared up at the end of the novel. I'm wondering if the second book will make more sense. The author spends a bit too much time following the protagonist as he is running, climbing, and moving around in general, but other than that it is a very fast-paced book. It also grabbed my interest right away, and kept me reading late into the night.
review 2: I read all three of the series. Book 1 was the best and did what Blake was trying to do, set a mood similar to Twin Peaks the TV show. All that was needed was Badalamenti playing in the b
... moreackground. The second book had a pretty good ending (I won't spoil it) but it was suspenseful. The third book gave me nightmares, seriously. I stopped reading the first couple chapters to go to sleep and nightmares woke me. I did not like the ending. I'm a Horatio Alger type of guy so I was affronted by the ending. less
