review 1: Good pacing, interesting story, believable character, everything seems ok for this second installment in the series. Yet something was a bit off, while I liked it I felt the story was not as twisted and mysterious as the first one, nevertheless it was good. Most characters again were not fleshed out, the book feels like a TV show unraveling. With the good pacing and interesting enough plot the author kept me reading and I will be going for the third and last book in the series, I just wish the thrill will find a place in this series once more.
review 2: What began as an ever steepening decline of overall enjoyment of this series in book 2 culminates in an absolutely unreadable 3rd book. The characters, badly drawn and 2 dimensional at best, devolve into bad ste
... morereotypes muttering dialogue that is so corny and contrived one cannot take it seriously. I literally cringed multiple times at the cheesiness of it. The story itself is a shell of where it was at the end of book 1 (in my opinion where the series should have ended). All if the mystery that surrounded the first book is replaced by a Michael Bay-inspired actionfest that drags on and on. And on..... There were many points where it seemed the book was actually written by a 14 year old boy. The author claims to have been inspired by David Lynch's Twin Peaks and, in the first book, manages to capture the eeriness and mystery of that ground-breaking show. But, as we all recall, Twin Peaks itself became as unwatchable as a soap opera in the end and, unfortunately, it seems Mr. Crouch followed that formula a little TOO closely. Not that the first two books were literary gems, mind you, but this third one was- in a word- awful. My only guess is that the author either had an impending deadline, or just didn't care anymore because he had already sold the screen rights to Fox. (Also saddened to discover that the Fox mini-series is produced and directed by M. Night Shaymalan.... [sigh]).In any event, avoid this book if at all possible. I only wish I could give it negative stars for a rating. At least I got it with my Kindle Unlimited subscription- had I paid for this I would be quite furious. Boo, Mr. Crouch. With books 2 and 3 of this series you have ensured that this avid reader will avoid ANYTHING you write from this point on. less

I loved it. The ending was left to your imagination and that made me happy.
