review 1: I have mixed feelings about this one. For starters, I like the idea of Cyclops becoming some sort of revolutionary figure for mutants, I also like his team and the new members... but it's just not captivating enough for me to want more.During this volume, we have various artists doing the art and I can't say I'm impressed by any of them. I have some panels that I enjoyed from both, but nothing special.
review 2: The new mutant revolution starts here, in the latest volume of the all-new Uncanny X-Men. With their powers broken following the Phoenix confrontation, Cyclops, Emma, Magneto, and Magik are looking to rebuild themselves. They are also seeking to rebuild their version of the X-Men, gathering new mutants to protect and train them in a world that still hat
... morees and fears Homo Superior. Brian Bendis does a better job with these established characters, reminding readers that despite their history, these mutants are a family trying to look after their own. The machinations of Magneto, the games of Emma Frost, the aloofness of Magik, and even the bold new confrontational direction of Cyclops mix well under his pen; the newest mutants are also a fun treat, be it the time-stopping Tempus, the healer Triage, or the hilariously inept Goldballs. Despite personal reservations about Chris Bachalo's art style in past books, here the artist manages to build a more clear and dynamic look, one that fits the rebuilding X-team perfectly. Now is the time to get back on board with the X-Men, as this is one Revolution that you do not want to miss. less

Having not read the Avengers V X-Men Marvel event I came into this series rather blind. Thankfully, the important bits are all easy to pick up so that you understand the situation more or less. Unfortunately, there seem to be too many characters at the moment who aren't getting enough attention to be fleshed out. The most interesting characters are Emma Frost, Tempus, and Magik and thankfully it looks like the story is heading in the direction of a Magik focused storyline. I prefer the art style of Irving over Bachalo but the first four issues contained in this volume are not bad. Plot wise the mutant situation is as it ever is and even though Cyclops is not necessarily very likable its difficult not to sympathize with the situation and the cause he follows. The relationship between Cyclops and I feels very similar to that of the relationship between Cyclops and Emma Frost. I sometimes hate him but at least I respect his position. I feel like the series still needs to pick up speed, as it seems to be doing by issue 5, but needs to also do a better job of establishing the numerous characters.

The other point of view from the conflict going on in the X books. Well done.
