review 1: THIS BOOK. (Notice that this review, so far, is ambiguous. It could be "THIS BOOK" as in "THIS BOOK IS GREAT" or it could be "THIS BOOK WAS CRAP". It could go either way. I will resume my review now.)THIS BOOK. WAS THERE A POINT TO THIS BOOK? IF SO, I CLEARLY MISSED IT. BUT I DON'T THINK SO. (At this point, everything goes d o w n h i l l in the review.) Mostly, 'Darkest Fear' consisted of a really great idea and blurb, but really crappy character development and plot. I can't believe I spent five hours reading about a mope... morey teenage girl whining around and getting random hot guys hitting on her out of the blue.
review 2: I read this awhile ago but wasn't sure how to write a review f this book. I LOVE Cate Tiernan and have read the Sweep series and the Immortal Beloved series which I enjoyed immensely. So I did not hesitate to pick up this next book in this new series and didn't even mind paying for the hardcover book. And when I read the blurb, I was a bit intrigued so I began reading.Then something happened.....I could never fully get into this book. I didn't really connect to any of the characters and I felt like this book was a mess.....it just skipped around with a lot of emotions and new characters every second but no real story or explanation. I kept flipping through the book like I would find an answer to what was going on.....but nope! This was the book.....I felt like Vivian never truly developed as a character....at times she is a crying mess for no real reason, but the next second she us going to save everyone....just made no sense to me. Plus, I never got into the whole shape shifting aspect of this book.....I read all types of paranormal books so I don't mind those types of things, but in this book, it just didn't fit. So since this book is about that big time, it was another reason why I couldn't get into the story. This review probably makes no sense but I just cant figure out how to explain my thoughts and feelings.....I guess I am a mess like the storyline of this book. I did finish it because it is rare for me to not finish a book, even ones I don't like. But unless reviews of the next book are awesome, I don't see myself continuing this series. less
