review 1: This is another book in the Bess Crawford series. I had recently read my first book from that series and enjoyed it. The story revolves around a nurse who is working in 1918 during the Spanish influenza epidemic. She sees a dead body that she recognizes, but knows the man did not die of the flu. He had been murdered. But by whom? And why?? Like a good mystery, there are twists and turns, but everything is settled at the end.
review 2: Another excellent Bess Crawford mystery! Bess Crawford is a nurse for the troops on the front lines of France. She becomes embroiled in a mystery when she sees that an officer has not died of his wounds or illness, but a broken neck. She was not supposed to see this and as she tries to solve the mystery surrounding this ... moreevent her own life is at risk, and the lives of those she holds dearest. Good writing and enjoyable characters. Will definitely be reading other Bess Crawford mysteries! less
