review 1: This fourth book in the Young Samurai series is a commendable continuation of the story of young Jack Fletcher. As this second stage of Jack Fletcher's adventure in Japan begins, Jack is again challenged to adapt in ways that challenge him to consider carefully the significant ethical implications of one's worldview. Jack, a young English boy having been raised as a nominal protestant during a time of religious political conflict between England and Portugal has assimilated well to the Way of the Samurai in Japan, and now he must again undertake the task of understanding a different Japanese Way that is considered to be inexorably opposed to the Way of the Samurai. review 2: this was a really good book because jack s
... morewore that ninja were his enemy and that they will always be, but after he gets to know them as friends and not just the cruel heartless people he used to hate, he learns that one tree does not make a forest. this meaning that because of his experience with dragon eye he thought that every other ninja was exactly the same. by learning the way of the ninja jack sees the ninja in a different perspective. they are true friends that will risk their lives to save you, they are kind and caring and taught to follow their hearts. less
