Honorverse: Wages of Sin
review 1: Kinda disappointing overall, but interesting to get some of the "side" story details from the main Honor Harrington series. Plenty of scenes with folks sitting around discussing plans for things that will happen, might happen, or just to chat. Not quite a "zillion" characters (and many of these had been introduced before) and I had no trouble keeping them straight. However one plot thread that was woven throughout didn't have any connection to the main plots until about 2/3 of the way through, which made it pretty annoying (even if it did figure prominently in one of the story outcomes).I had high hopes that a co-author might inject some interesting events into the narrative. I've not read any Eric Flint before the two in this series, so maybe he and Weber are too similar ... moreto overcome the characters-sit-around-talking-then-rush-to-big-finish rut. I'm not adverse to pages and pages of sitting around talking if things lead to something, but the big project that Mesa keeps hinting at is really starting to get tired. (As I was reading this, I recalled how "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" was a lot of sitting around and talking, but most of that talking was describing important events and there were bouts of suspense/excitement interspersed with all the talking.)
review 2: I was concerned that with the series splitting into two separate plot lines that it would become too cumbersome and difficult to follow. Weber handles it though and keeps us wanting more. I even like the new characters that are developing and find myself enjoying them as much as the primary Honor Harrington character and sub characters.I am still anxiously waiting for Honor's twins to come back into the storyline. less

A science-fiction thriller to the end. I really enjoyed the space battle that happened near the end.
