review 1: good read. believable story of how life spiralled to rock bottom for Madison. Her parents could have saved some of her problems by spilling a secret they knew from the autopsy of their son a lot sooner. Denise the writer must some incite into sailing because it was detailed. Conquering fear like swimming is a big deal. Beckett also could have benefited by the secret Madison's parent had, but at least he was connected to God. Very hard decision Beckett also had about putting his father into a rehab place. Prayer warriors are great backups. Seth and Layla's story. Jade's n Daniel's story. can't wait who is next PJ or Ryan. Aaron n Seth name mixup as Jade's bf who died spoilt a little.
review 2: Madison has decided that she is going to enter a sailing race in hono
... morer of her brother who died when they were younger. The only problem is that she doesn't know how to sail and she's afraid of water. She wins sailing lessons at an auction, but through a series of events one of her instructors is Beckett, a guy who she feels jilted her when she was younger. I really like Beckett's character and the overall story is engaging. The one question I have is why it's called Barefoot Summer, especially when the main character doesn't like taking her shoes off and walking on the beach- they try to explain the reasoning in the end, but the justification is somewhat lacking. less

Light and predictable Christian fiction, but a nice escape during a busy week.
