review 1: I love everything Devon Monk has ever written, and this book didn't disappoint. If anything, I was pleasantly surprised! I didn't really think it was "my kind of thing" from the description, but got it because I love Devon's writing. And as usual, she pulled me in from the very first paragraph. In fact, I had a hard time putting this book down long enough to work on my own writing. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
review 2: Interesting take on Frankenstein mythology. However, I found too many logical gaps. If these things were created spontaneously by some event, then why all the stitching? Replacement parts...OK, but if the technology is so advanced then surely there is a more sophisticated way to replace parts than old fashioned needle and thread. T
... morehese things may be immortal but they can be broken down and "put on ice" so to speak. Surely at least a couple of them would have been taken out of commission by now. There are other "gaps" in the science of time control and activating the senses that just didn't work for me. Good writer though, if you can get past the logic. less

Devon Monk! Can't get any better than this! What an imagination. I just LOVE a good page turner.

Ending is somewhat insufficient, feels like the first installment, not first book.

Awesome. Loved it. Science fiction with subtle fantasy references.
