review 1: I like the characters of these Ruth Galloway mysteries and I always enjoy seeing the working out of the complex web of relationships. I also like the archaeological aspects of the story, as well as the extensive sense of place in the settings. This book is more about the relationships and less about archaeology and place. The mystery line is subordinate to the relationship line as well. I enjoyed the book but missed the rest of the elements that make this series so compelling.
review 2: I liked this one! Probably should get 3.5. Her first book was so fab, but I have been disappointed in most of her subsequent novels. This is a return to form; it seems to move the characters on a bit more (they had seemed so stuck in the mire for so long) and it was great to r
... moreead a story in a different setting and with some new characters. It will be very interesting to see where the author goes with this now that one of the major characters has left the Norfolk setting. Personally I like a bit more mystery and less of the personal dramas but that is just me. Can't wait to get my hands on her next one. less
