review 1: I love this whole series and can't wait to get my hands on the next book. Kane is the tortured hero, possessed by the demon of Disaster, destined to start the Apocalypse, desperately trying to find the way to avoid his predicament. Josephina is a half-Fae, and even though she is a daughter of the king, due to her mother being only a king's lover, she's used as a whipping girl, punished instead of her fully royal, demon-possessed sister. Their paths cross while she's trying to escape the clutches of her family, and the game starts. Kane finds himself immersed in the Fae court politics, intrigue and power games, while he's trying to understand what he is supposed to do to avoid disaster (pun intended), get the girl and save the day. What I didn't like in this book is yet ano... morether whiny heroine that can't decide what to do when her feelings are in question, she doesn't trust Kane at all, and basically, I have no idea why does he even like her. Jealous, insecure, ready to run away at the first sign of trouble, she doesn't show too many positive traits, not until the end of the book, where many things change. It's impossible not to love persistent and loyal Kane, though, and we also get to meet the other Lords and William. There's also a part dedicated to Cameo and Lazarus, and the opening for the next book in the series, with Torin, Lord of Disease, so a lot of things are happening, as usual. It would be pity if the urban fantasy part of these books would get lost, cause it's excellently imagined world, with a lot of possibilities, one of them being a spin-off series, Angels of the Dark that are also great reads. Four out of five stars, in spite of impossible heroine, and that says it all.
review 2: What in the hell did I just read? The only saving grace was the secondary characters. This doesn't have a heat level at all and there at the last the hero becomes quite the wuss. I know that Gena found religion (I have no problem with that), but if I wanted a toned down lets get married before we have sex kind of book, then that's the kind of book I would have read. She has taken this series and turned it into a joke. I still want the other stories, but I will not buy them. Probably will read reviews on them first. less
