review 1: 3 VICTORIOUS STARS!Anxious about what will become of Strider and even though I anticipated this so much (he's one of my favorite of the Lords) I'm kinda bummed. Yes, I liked the development of the story and the romance between the two main characters and all. I understood the circumstances and why they did what they did...but I can't really grasp the chemistry between them.Strider is one of my favorites, besides Sabin, and I did not see the connection or heated chemistry between him and Kaia. Sure, I like Kaia and her spunky personality and shemight seem all wrong for him and an unlikely choice for Strider but their relationship seemed almost nonexistent and forced. Strider, keeper of the demon Defeat needs someone cool, calmed and probably someone who doesn't challenge hi... morem. The author probably thought he needed someone who infuariated him, and intrigued him at the same time. That's a viable choice since he might get tired of the latter BUT, but, but...as entertaining as Kaia is...there seems to be no connection or sparks flying everywhere whatsoever. Frankly, I'm much more intrigued by the idea of Lazarus and her...though apparently he seems to belong to someone else...*cough* another person *cough* I won't spoil the fun. LOL
review 2: I didn't even have the patience to finish this book, I just browsed through it. Kaia was okay for a secondary character, but not for a heroine. It was like Gwen's story recycled in a much more annoying version. I mean come on, she slept with his best friend! How can someone look past it? And Strider's only reaction was jealousy? Seriously? I don't know about where Mrs. Showalter comes from, but here in Greece we say that you can borrow everything except for your friend's woman and car. I mean it's fine to share, but have all the oh-I-am-so-in-love-with-this-woman-she-is-my-everything part is just meh!Actually, I have noticed that all the Lords after they fall in love forget all about their warrior nature and become smitten kittens. For God's sake, Zeus created them to be his personal guard and more than that now they are possessed by High Lord demons! They should never pick women before battle or their friends. Of course, they can find companions and women they want to devote themselves to, but they can't just turn into domesticated pets! But is seems that in the last books we have even forgotten the war with the Hunters, since every character is doing his own thing with his woman and personally I couldn't give a damn why Kaia is the disappointing one or why-oh-why does Strider not want her! Enough of the inner monologues and ever questions and repeating themes! And yes, after the second book the ropes of muscle and the popping of jaw become boring as hell! And Mrs. Showalter's hell was utterly boring! As you can see, I have a general problem with the series. The happy ever afters in such dramatic conditions get to my nerves. Also, I like reading steamy times about the protagonists, but I want some plot as well, not just their whining and indecisions, insecurities and sacrifices in the name of love. And finally the thing that disturbs me the most, even from the first book that I actually enjoyed. These twelve warriors were created by Zeus. Then why, oh Jesus, doesn't even one of them - except for Paris - have ancient Greek names?! Maddox, Lucien, Reyes, Aeron, Sabin, Strider (!!!!), Cameo (!!!!!), Torin, Amun, Kane, wdf! And the brother of Lucifer is called William?! For the love of God, William?! Do some etymological research and have some originality and creativity, woman!Oh, Zeus, can't we just have killings and sex without any other annoying girly fantasies and wishful thinkings?! less

For a while I considered giving this four stars as I read because of Striders major douche-bagginess... But even he freaking grew on me. This story jumps between Paris, Kane, William and of course the main two, Kaia(the awesome, the strongest, the non-disappointment, the wing shredder, the fire starter, the bestest ever!) and Strider (or Bonin'). By the time strider let himself like Kaia again, I loved him. He's very cold and stand-offish - masked by being a douche and his witty humour.. shared with Kaia - which is understandable when everyone takes advantage of his demon and most people do it without realising. He falls for Kaia fast, and the layout of this book isn't quite like the others. Similar but not the same. It was nice. Their humour is what made me love it. Anyway. I loved it. Of course. And fuck anyone who tries to tell me it's shit. Keep that to yourself, fool.
