review 1: I mistakenly read the reviews for this book prior to reading it so I knew it was going to be a bit of a suck-fest compared to other books in the series. I read it to finish up the series (as so help me if I don't finish a series!). It was not nearly so good as the others, as was forewarned. I liked the side stories but the main one bored the hell out of me. I didn't get how they even liked each other. And to be honest, I was 'reading' the book as in my eyes were moving on the page, but I wasn't paying attention. As I was "reading" I was thinking, "Damn, I have to get on the road early tomorrow if I want to make it to Lacrosse for the 9AM appointment. I'll have to remember to stop for some mango sticky rice in Rochester. That produce manager will catch HELL from me if... more they don't have mango sticky rice stocked in the deli fridge tomorrow. I mean, a produce manager doesn't get paid $7.50 an hour to NOT have mango sticky rice on the shelves!" So bummer ending to the series but they can't all be winners. And yes, there was mango sticky rice at the co-op in Rochester. All's well that ends well.
review 2: I'm bored. Listen, I like human men. Human. Just normal, warm-blooded, mortal men with all their faults and talents. I don't need a vampire, werewolf, nymph, weredragon, or whatever to make me happy. Why on earth would I want some supernatural being following me around, drooling and talking about how he "owns" me? I don't find this appealing. This book is like a soap opera. A weird one. Layel is king of all vampires. He's consumed by hatred ever since his pregnant human wife was gang-raped and then killed by weredragons. That was 200 years ago and he's been on a murderous rampage for all that time. The gods, bored meddling creatures, take two of each species (unmated) and put them on an island paradise to battle each other in a test of superiority. Delilah is a little Amazon who is ashamed because she wants to be loved and cherished by a man. She should only want to be a killer and a great warrior like her Amazon sisters. But she can't help wanting a man - not just in bed, but someone who loves her and can be her life partner. It's obvious from the get-go that Layel and Delilah are attracted to each other. Delilah's willing and eager for Layel to love her, but Layel is stubbornly holding onto the past and doing everything in his power to push her away. There's just so many things wrong with this book I don't really know what to say.I DON'T LIKE: - When people climax sexually from vampires drinking their blood. - When a vampire mindjacks a woman so that he can bite her in her ... sensitive parts and she just wakes up and thinks it's a dream, but wonders why she's so pale and weak now. - When every single character has a raped, murdered, and sometimes raped-and-murdered relative or loved one in their past that is f*cking them up psychologically. - When people often make the choice (?) to sell themselves into sexual slavery or bondage in order to save a loved one. - When gods come down and treat people like their living toys, doing stuff like taking away their ability to feel emotion or manipulating them with visions of their dead wives.- Slavery in this book is just the norm. Amazons take men as sexual slaves for two months out of every year, Layen's wife was originally his slave who he kept chained up in his dungeon, Zane sold himself into sexual slavery to the Demon Queen in order to save his lover's life, etc. etc. etc. Slavery is not okay, and while I don't mind slavery being in novels, I'd appreciate it being portrayed as a bad thing, not a casual throwaway occurrence. - This whole idea that all that matters in life is your husband/wife - you'd die without them, you'd kill indiscriminately for them, you'll kill anyone who even dares to look at them, etc. etc. etc. less

I couldn't put this down. If you love a book with a lot of action, like the hunger games, and has romance in it. Than you will love this book. I couldn't put this book down. It was so good I read it while I was at my grandma's when we were having Christmas eve. I would have liked to read the other books before this one because that's just the way I'm but I didn't need to because each book could technically stand on it's own.I loved how the characters played out in this book. I loved Delilah she had so much spirit and will to be the best and she wasn't one of those pussy girls that you just wanted to punch and never see in a book again nope she was like a man. In and awesome way. I loved her the most out of all of the characters. Layel was the other main character he made me so mad throughout the book that mostly through the whole thing I was just hoping he would jump off a cliff and not come back but in the end it worked out for the best and the story ended just how I liked it.I really picked this book up because of the cover I didn't even read the blurb for it until I got it in the mail. So I was glad It was a good book. I'm still thinking about getting the other book or at least the next book because that has some of the same charecters in the book. So I will think about and we will see. I also liked this book because there was more than one story happening throughtout it so it was that much more interesting. I loved this book.

Layel and Delilah are my favorite Atlantis couple next to Grey and Jewel. Layel peeked my interest in the first book. I feel like he has the saddest most empathetic backstory out of all of the men. He switches back and fourth from strong manly vampire to an insecure teen having panic attacks. I liked the survivor like challenge played by the Gods. I'm not sure why there were so many negative reviews on this. It's not top notch like the LOTUW but it was entertianing, exciting, and enjoyable. I would like to know MORE about this couple. Novella anyone??
