The Hypnotists
review 1: I couldn't put The Hypnotists down. The premise is pretty cool and the tension is riveting and keeps building until the end. Jackson Opus doesn't have magic like Harry Potter, or powers of a Greek god like Percy Jackson, but like those two popular characters, he has a particular talent that makes him unique. Unlike the fantasy worlds of those other protagonists, The Hypnotists stays rooted in the real world, focusing on the moral aspects of dealing with such an amazing 'gift.' Although morality is the central theme, the book doesn't come across as preachy to any degree, and the action is high throughout. I can't wait to see how the students at my school like it!
review 2: I give the book a 4 out of 5 stars, it was a great book and it was very interesting, but I
... more feel like they should've gone a little bit further adding details. This book has a very good story, I was not even through the first chapter when I was already hooked into the story. Gordon Korman uses good word choice to display the feelings of Jackson throughout the story. But I do believe that the story should have been a little more "in depth" with some of the events that happened. But all in all, this is a very good book and I would strongly recommend it to anyone! less

Good, solid 4th-5th grade reading. Nothing super exciting though.

A better written adolescent fiction. Good for 5th/6th graders.
