review 1: This is Grace Burrowes at her best. What I love most about her writing is the detail she puts into her work. She paints a world with words that draws you into the time period and makes you for a moment believe you are actually there. Her characters are well developed and like a fine wine she allows them to mature and breathe throughout her stories. The romance between Hester and Tye is not rushed and while she does go into details of their sexual moments within the bedroom, she does not rely on those moments to maintain the readers interest in the book. Those scenes were touching, romantic, humorous and at times poignant. Though I read this book out of order it was not necessary to have read the previous two to enjoy, however I am going back now to read the others and the ... morelast of the series. I recommend this book to anyone who loves historical romances, who wants to be lost from the stress of their everyday life if not for a moment and who wishes that they could step into the life of the heroine for a short period and enjoy what we dream life could be.
review 2: Hester jiltd her fiancee and has gone to the country to stay with her niece-by-marriage, Fiona, while Matthew and Mary Fran are on their wedding trip. Here comes Tye, to take Fiona to her natural father's family. If you have read the previous book and novella you know all the back story. If not, reason to do so-and if you don't you will still enjoy the book. As usual there is a secondary love story, a bit unexpected at first, but statisfying. Another good book from Ms. Burrowes. I just like the wya Type and Hester come to know each other, slowly and ultimately have to decide what is right for each of them. less
