Attack on Titan
review 1: Wow. Okay, I wasn't expecting THAT to be the case with the female Titan. Armin is proving himself to be useful in ways other than fighting which is fantastic, since I really like him. But again, this volume calls up even MORE questions. Like, how do humans get to BE Titans? And what is their goal? Why are they trying to kill people? I don't get it. Clearly the characters don't either, but wow. Also HOW DID THAT GET IN THE WALL?!
review 2: With the female Titan having escaped after killing Eren's squad and injuring Captain Levi, Eren is summoned to the council and will be handed over to the Military Police for dissection... Unless, Armin's theory on the identity of the female Titan is correct and they are successfully able to capture her! But when Eren loses his
... more will to fight and is unable to turn into a Titan at the most crucial moment, will he have to see his two best friends die before his eyes before he can fight again? This volume earned every bit of the four stars I gave it. It was spooky, action-packed, thrilling, and inspiring. I noticed that the art had been improving since volume 7 or 6, but really, gradually since volume 2 or 3. But anyway, there were some things that did wander a bit from the anime, but I just can't tell which version I liked better because they are both so amazing! And they are subtle differences anyhow. Like how Eren was able to gain back his will to fight for example.AND AAAHHHH, I didn't know that the last chapter would include what happens after the end of the anime!! EEEKKK!! There are actual LIVING TITANS INSIDE THE WALLS?! No wonder there was a religious cult that worshipped the walls as if they were Gods!! But why can't the sunlight hit those particular Titans' eyes? Were they given some sort of information before building the walls that the sunlight is a sort of self destruction, destroy humanity, signal? And why have the members of that religion evidently sworn to secrecy? Can't a spy infiltrate their shrine, pretend to become a member, and learn their secret over the course of several years of earning their trust? Although, I suppose time isn't exactly on humanity's side...Hanji theorizes that perhaps the protective casing that Annie had been able to cover herself in was something similar to what the walls might even be made of, and why there are Titans standing inside of the walls. If that hypothesis proves to be true, then I suppose that answers my lingering question as to how humanity was able to build a wall in the middle of nowhere, especially considering the fact that Titans were attracted to the essence of humans. It really made no sense, because they would at least have had to have a temporary outer wall shielding them as they built a permanent wall, because the Titans easily overpower most every human precaution and/or tactic. Another thing, the Titan inside the wall was discovered inside of Wall Sia (er, Sheena?), and so, that must mean they started out building the capitol all the way into Shiganshima District. That also explains why the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan both aimed only for the Wall doors, perhaps. They must not have wanted to harm their own kind, probably. less
