review 1: If someone walked up to me and said, "hey did you know Pokemon has the theme of political corruption in it" i would have laughed and walked away. However, this issue proves that even a children's comic book can have the theme of political corruption, and placing people in potions to have the ability to control people. Through the Character of gym leader Erica, we see that Gym leaders have a lot of pull over the city their gym is located in. She basically has a bunch of people following her around calling her "Lady Erica" luckily she is not one of the bad guys, and neither is Brock or Misty; however, EVER SINGLE OTHER GYM LEADER IS APART OF TEAM ROCKET! Sure Blaine left the evil corporation, but he was still apart of it. Serena basically puts a force field around her whole ... morecity to protect team rocket! I would defiantly recommend this to not only children, but adults as well because of the concept that the graphic novel is a children's manga with adult themes.
review 2: I loved the second volume of Pokemon adventures. This volume seems to get more into the story of team Rocket as the antagonist. However, the story seems to go very fast compared to volume one. Suddenly everyhing is about team Rocket and the pokemon they experiment on and the story of Mew and Mewto. Also Green is introduced as a character in this volume, but I don't find her very likeable. However, despite this the volume was a lot of fun to read because of the introduction of the new pokemon and because Red is a very likeable character. I cannot wait to read the next volume. less
