review 1: I live in an old house that is full of random items. Since it isn't my house, and I'm only staying temporarily, I don't have a say in the junk. However, one day I found this book just sitting on a pile of rusted metal and crushed soda cans. I have no idea where it came from. I picked it up and brought it inside. That was the last I saw of it until just last week. It ended up outside my bedroom door. It looks as though a mouse chewed on the spine, and it was quite dirty. As no one in the house had ever seen it and it kept coming to me, I decided to read it. It was a very short book, and I'm not familiar with the series, so I don't know what the significance of the special edition is. But it seemed to have an interesting collection of creatures in it. I may just have to hunt... more down another book of two from the series to see what it's all about.
review 2: This book is one of many in the Spiderwick Chronicles set. I think this is the first book in the series. It starts after the family has moved into the the Spiderwick Manor and Jared found the secret library of his uncle. He finds a diary and the goblins want it. The goblins have taken his little brother and Jared can not see them with out the looking stone. He and his sister run to the shed and find the stone. The book ends with Jared and his sister fighting the goblins in thier back yard.This is not really a book I would use for a lesson, but for fun. I might use it as an example of fantasy writing. I thought it was a very wierd book, but very exciting! less
