review 1: The story wasn't too terribly original but it's better than most. It's the second book in a trilogy and it's pretty standard fare. The first book sets the plot up. The second books executes it, and I'm guessing that the third book will put a nice bow on the package. The main reason I'm giving it four stars is because of the characters. I like Dancia, the lead character. She's pretty much your typical heroine in a YA fantasy novel but the author gives her just bit more oomph. Her close friends are also interesting. Even her perfect Ken doll boyfriend goes beyond. I'm looking forward to the third book because even though I think I know what's going to happen, I'm not quite sure. I have to admit that the bad guy isn't necessarily who I thought it was even though the a... moreuthor dropped clues left and right. I just thought it would be too obvious. I was expecting a plot twist and to my surprise, I didn't get it. I'm not a big fan of plot twists.
review 2: “The Marked” by Inara Scott, is a fiction, young adult, romance and paranormal type book that is the second book in the Delcroix Academy series. The story has a lot to deal with talents AKA powers and using them for the good. In “The Marked” Dancia Lewis officially becomes part of the watcher program and becomes Cam’s girlfriend at the beginning (even though, I still think that she should have been with Jack!). Later on in the book there is a group that shows up that are against the program and fights begin breaking out around the program more often. Dancia is faced with fighting with program or going with Jack at the beginning…the question is: Will she stay and fight for the good? Or go with Jack? The story itself is very interesting and cool because you get to see different talents being used and also it is very relatable (to a extent) with teens. Some of my favorite characters were: Jack (obviously…so amazing and mysterious.) and Barett (so funny and just….Barret). Then other characters: Anna, who I HATED for three fourths of the book and Catharine, who a got to liking in this book. The number one major idea in the story was: fighting for what you believe in, standing up for yourself, and taking hits if necessary; shows how strong and bold you are. Overall, I loved the book and would read it again and again! less
