review 1: Let's get some things straight before I start this review. Firstly, I loved the way this book was written and the idea behind it. The main character also had some very nice qualities about her. She was a feminist before feminism was even a thing. That being said, the story just didn't do it for me. I loved the fact that Callie was trying to break out of her shell, but the lack of character change really made me feel like there was no purpose to the story. It was hard for me to keep the book open for more than half an hour at a time. There were parts which encouraged me to read on but those came sporadically within the book. I wouldn't recommend this book to my peerws.
review 2: Esta vez se trata de una historia en la que no encontramos claramente un inicio, nud... moreo y desenlace, en cambio, a lo largo de sus páginas acompañamos a Calpurnia mientras descubre un amor y una curiosidad insaciable por la naturaleza, la relación con un abuelo aparentemente cascarrabias que la ayudará a introducirse en el mundo natural, unos ruidosos hermanos, una madre y una sociedad que la empujaran a abandonar su pasión por el conocimiento en favor de actividades más propias de una señorita y la lucha de ésta por evitar que lo logren. Es pues nuestra Calpurnia una heroína de su propia cotidianidad, inteligente y curiosa.Un libro que merece la pena! less
