review 1: This book is the second in a series of books centered around a Detective Constable Maeve Kerrigan of the London Police Department. It is rare, in my experience for books in a series to get better, but I enjoyed this book even more than I enjoyed the first book in the series (The Burning). In this book, Maeve and the rest of the team are trying to solve the cases of several pedophiles who have been brutally tortured and killed. These cases lead to another and the clock begins to tick. The lifeblood of this series is indeed Maeve, who is a very likeable and compelling character. I will indeed be reading the next in the series.
review 2: I've been listening to this and the first in the series via audible and I've been enjoying the second even more than the first. ... moreReally well written, unseen twists and turns throughout the story and very realistic characters. The narrator (in the audible version)is great, she gives everyone a distinct voice and does the men's voices quite well, not all narrators can do the opposite sex without being ridiculously annoying. less
