review 1: Like her Pulitzer prize winning One Thousand Acres, this story is a family saga. It's set almost entirely on a farm in Iowa and is somewhat uneventful as it follows a husband and wife and the eventual birth of five children. Nice story, but I found the characters to be flat. I felt like I was reading a newspaper story.
