review 1: For those who aren't into the alpha billionaires you may want to stay clear from a series with billionaire in the title of every book in the series. But this particular alpha isn't super arrogant nor does he have deep dark issues that drive the his alpha ness. And the heroine isn't a innocent doe eye virgin. Instead she's a smart educated working class gal who happens to end up stuck in an elevator with a billionaire. It's super fun, flirty, and not drama filled.Bronte Dawson has won a trip to the Bahamas. She reluctantly takes her coworker and they are being evacuated because of an impending hurricane. She rushes back to her room to help find her friend's passport and on the way back to the lobby she's stuck with Logan Hawking. His issue is that he trusted the wrong girl ... moreand got burned for it. He's so paranoid that women only see him for his money. And the one time he got engaged to a woman who thought she wanted him for who he was he learned she was a gold digger. You start to wonder just what type of women was he surrounding himself or meeting. So when Bronte mistakes him for the manager of the resort he goes for it. He realizes she has no idea who he his and for the remaining time they have with one another he's going to be himself and not the billionaire everyone else knows him to be.They spend a few days together, getting to know one another, both personally and intimately. When they are rescued and she learns his true identity, she flips out, angry that he hid that from her. She thinks he used her because he could. He of course, in his arrogant way thinks he'll be able to move her to New York and change her from a waitress to a somebody. When he friend asks what she does for a living he simply says "nothing". She does "nothing". Ugh, that came off so arrogant and silver spooned fed. Those scenes when he's off the island were such a turn off because ugh, she does nothing. She works, she's trying to keep a roof over her head. Granted, she could be doing more with her degree, but it's very easy to stay where you are when you're comfortable at a job. Sooo maybe he has a slight point.Anyway, she flees and Logan finds her, buys the diner she works at (because he can just buy businesses at a whim) so that he could talk to her. You start to think in the real world, this would just be stalkerish and insane. But in Romancelandia, it's he's super alpha and gets what he wants. So she travels to New York with him and she's a little fish in a big expensive pond, where she doesn't know how to fit in his world. We meet Logan's ex Danica and I thought she was going to be more trouble than portrayed. And that's what I liked about this story, there's no excessive drama, there's not a lot of angst. They don't have deep parental issues. The story doesn't get too too deep and that's fine by it. It's a fun and cute story with a lot of good banter.Logan does a lot of assuming on his part. He assumes she's going to live with him, he assumes she's going to drop everything in Kansas City for him, he assumes a lot and that ticks her off because Bronte is his own person. And the way he goes about things aka "the test" is thoughtless to her feelings. It's like he doesn't know how to act around a real woman with feelings. He can see through the gold diggers and rebuff them, but when it comes to someone genuine he doesn't know what to do so he micromanages. And those sexy times scenes. I have to say I really liked them. There weren't insane over the top smexy, but a little more realistic. Like their dirty talk wasn't cringeworthy. I remember reading a book where the hero kept saying "EYES!" because he wanted to look at her all the time. And when she would stray it was "EYES!". I mean it got laughably after the third "EYES!". But I really liked the scenes here, they were sexy, realistic, with good banter. For some reason I didn't think Gretchen was going to be lead for the next book, but she is. And Hunter will be her hero. I don't know about you, but when he called Logan and said "get me information about her. I want her" I thought uh oh. And when he starts asking Bronte about her at the meeting she's all like "are you going to stalk her?" I said yassss, that's how it looks!I found there to be odd typos. For instance there was a sexy time scene where Logan doesn't have a condom, but Bronte says she's on the pill. Cue a few more lines and Logan is rolling off the condom. That doesn't make sense and it takes one out of the scene. Also when Hunter asks Bronte what Gretchen's last name is and she says Penway then Petty. Which one is it? Despite those inconsistencies, I really enjoyed the book (I read it in one day). It's fun, a little Cinderella themed story, with loads of philosophical quotes, smexy times, and good leads.
review 2: This was a fun read. Quick and cutesy story. I love this brotherhood thing going on in the book. Each man offering something different and yet essential to the group. Six billionaire's and best friends, help each other out no matter, laws be damned. This book was on Logan. The leader, the responsible one who back in collage would remind his friends that they had a test the next day while they were out partying. He's serious about what he wants and a tad paranoid with who he can trust since his ex-fiancé used him for his money. Bronte is a small town waitress who wants nothing more than to make it on her own. She's down to earth and lively and philosophical. The story of Logan and Bronte was fun to read about. I mean I swear there should've been other people on that island they were stranded on besides them, but their fated chance in finding each other was very romantic.I'm very interested in Hunter's story though. And he's the Billionaire the next book will be on. less
