review 1: I enjoyed reading this retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Osborn is a beserker that lost all of his people except his two brothers. His losses have caused him to hide from the world and protect his brothers too much. Breena woke up in Osborn's forest after surviving an attack in her kingdom. After finding Breena asleep in his bed, having eaten his oatmeal and broken his chair, Osborn must decide how much to help this invader to his land. I have to admit, I don't know if I would have gotten around to reading this book if not for a challenge, but that is why I love these games at GR so much. They get me out of my comfort zone and force me to pick up new books. This was a fun read and got me to read a book by a new to me author.
review 2: Lord of Rage is
... more the second book in the Royal House of Shadows series, and, thankfully, quite a bit better than the previous installment. This book's fairy tale spin is on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I thought this was a light and entertaining read. The characters were quite likable and I enjoyed the romance storyline. The non-romantic storyline felt as though it could have used a bit more time and the ending felt kind of rushed, but overall it was pretty good. less
