review 1: 3.5 starsI definitely enjoyed this one more than the previous one. Maybe it was because the male was the paranormal one and that's how I like it, or maybe it was just because there seemed to be a lot more going on. Though this one too had a whole fairy tale thing going on, at least Dayn was indeed a real prince.Reda was a cop until the death of her best friend and partner. She blames herself for his death because she could have prevented it (or at least tried to anyway) but she froze when it mattered most. Her father and brothers are military guys and she pretty much has no on to turn to. Since his death she has been going thru the motions of life without actually living. And then one day she finally finds the book her mother gave her when she was a child that was lo... morest and her life is in for an abrupt change. Our Elden prince this time is Dayn. After a fight with his parents he pretty much storms out of the castle to pout in a way by hunting for beasts. While he is gone is when the blood sorcerer attacks the castle. Getting caught up in a vortex he speaks to his father and sees the horror that went on while he was not there. Not being able to help it, he's transported to the realm of the wolfyn where he lives for twenty years hiding his identity while waiting for the one that will be his guide home.Cue Reda. While reading her book she also gets sucked into a vortex and sent to the wolfyn realm where Dayn rushes to get her. For a while she's in complete denial that the whole thing is even real but eventually realizes that it is. Standing in the way of Dayn and Reda getting back home is a witch who unleashes beasts after the two of them as well as turns pretty much every citizen in both realms against Dayn. The wolfyn want him dead because he's a blood drinker and his people want him dead because he's a wolfyn (of which by the way, I still don't know how that exactly happened) and they don't know he's their prince. Dayn and Reda are not even together for four days but they find themselves in love with the other even though they each have reason to fight it. Or at least think they do. Dayn was left with one message from him father and that was to be true to himself. And it's not until the very end when Reda's life is endangered that he figures out what that actually is. Is it a spoiler to say that he comes riding in to save the day on huge black unicorn? Well, I don't care much because that was actually kind of cool. One thing that was peculiar about this installment was the lack of mention of his time piece. I don't think it was mentioned even once in the whole story. And didn't each child receive one? Because isn't it something super important? Now on the last one because really, I am very interested to see what will happen the four siblings finally come together.
review 2: Again I'm confused by the timeline. The first book 10 years have passed, the second only a few days or month? And now in this one 20 years???? where are the siblings that have gathered at the castle??? I mean if timelines are going together wouldn't Nicolai and Breena already be there waiting for him?? Okay now that the complaints are done I liked the Red Riding Hood reference. It for sure is one of my favorite fairy tales especially when it is redone. I was confused how he'd be lord of the Wolfyn when I thought Dayn was a vampire, but the wolf woodcutter reference was a fun play to the story. Reda I was not sure of. She experienced some hardships in the Human Realm and many thought she was crazy. A book and her mother's teachings bring her to Dayn and help him in his journey to save Elden from the Blood Sorcerer. I look forward to the next one. less
