The Mission League
review 1: a youth contemporary read. Was able to read the book over a length of time without losing the storyline. Certainly an adventure but also some questions that Spencer didn't receive answers to. That maybe for another story to be revealed. Going to Moscow would really have been out of comfort zone especially in areas of culture, language, political arena from communism to democratic differences. poverty, faith, education, family, laws are needed in all societies but when change occurs some people can not rise above. When people have been damaged n broken its hard to find the right sort of help. Anya is a questionable character, I wonder if we have someone like that who influences us or not
review 2: Welcome to the Mission League. Those were not the words that Spenc
... moreer was wanting to hear, but it was either that, or get shipped off to a military boarding school. What kind of decision was that ? Spend his entire summer at the boarding school, or hanging out with people he called "churchers". He dreamed of getting ready for basketball season, and one day, becoming an NBA superstar. It wasn't until he started hanging out with the wrong crowd that his grandmother decided that it was time for him to grow up, and gave him the option of what to do.When he first begins learning about the mission league, he thinks it is a group of school students like himself, who have formed nothing more than a Bible study group. He was in for the surprise of his life. This was a Bible spy organization ! Spencer is more than a little skeptical about where this is going, until he gets shipped off to Moscow for his first assignment. He begins meeting field agents, intercessors, and the poorest people that Moscow can give him. His cover story, he is an international student helping the poor and destitute of Russia. His real job is helping uncover a massive cult that is operating in Moscow.Spencer is not a Christian, but during the trip, he learns that there is more to life than just relying on yourself. He learns to trust others, and they help teach him about what is means to have faith in God. less
