review 1: The Holocaust has always fascinated me. An escape from one of the worst death camps in history wasn't a hard sell for me. No matter how many times I read about these death camps I'm always shocked and haunted by those inside their walls. This time was no different. However, the twist of escaping was an interesting facet of history because not many successful escapes occurred. The fact that this was based on a true story made it all the more worth while to cheer for. Even so, I'm still dumb founded at how easy it was for Hitler to nearly exterminate an entire race. No matter how much I read about that time I can never fully wrap my mind around it.
review 2: This is unlike most of the holocaust books you may have read. It was an easy read, but the emotions and
... morestress of that terrible period in time is not lost. It focuses much more on the faith or religion of two men. One a Christian and the other a Jew that learns what it means to be a Jew. And the spirit of the both men and the people they encounter in the prison camps and their love for life and for their beliefs. less

Very good but hard to read. You know it's a novel but based on truth.
