review 1: If you love murder mysteries set in today's time frame then you need to step away from the TV and stop watching that CRAP and pick up the prey series from John Sandford. Really. You're missing some captivating fiction here. Lucas Davenport gets it done and not always in a conventional way. The characters are always intriguing and I love his real world dialogue. Get them and READ THEM! You will NOT be disappointed. I read them in order. Not required, but I really like to follow the protagonist development (and other characters too).
review 2: I found this book to be tongue-in-cheek and not to be taken with any sense of great fiction. I quit the series only after the first book. I suspect the main character probably develops into a subject that readers coul... mored enjoy but I'm not willing to take the time. I did appreciate Davenport's description of the female with the line "She looked like Betty Boop and smelled of Juicy Fruit". Steven King said the new novel is on his to read list in 2013. That gives credibility , I assume. less
