review 1: If Douglas Adams had taken on Edgar Allen Poe it would have resulted in this book. The story is not incredibly substantial in anyway, but the humorous wit with which it was written absolutely makes up for it. The character development is deep enough to actually care what happens, even if the story becomes slightly predictable. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed Cabal and look forward to the rest of the series.
review 2: I feel pretty stupid right now. When I started reading this book I had high hopes, it seemed so promising and easygoing. Then, after chapter 2 or somewhere there, I understood that I had already lost it. Nicely written, fancy words and stuff but it didn't make sense for me anymore, at all. I was quite desperate to get on track again and I forced ... moreit up to page 211, and now, I quit. Don't know if there's something wrong with me but all of the characters and the storyline was a disappointing mess. less
